This year’s Area 3 Adventure/Survival Training camp was held from 26 to 28 October. Along with campers from other Area 3 units, Manjusri and St. Gabriel Secondary School, and Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School, our Secondary 2 and 3 campers successfully completed the 3 days 2 nights camp!

Below are recounts from our campers:

“This is my first Pualu Ubin camp. Initially, I thought that the camp was going to be very tough and boring. But after going through the camp, I found found it very fun and interesting.

On the first day, we were separated into different groups had ice breaker games. During ice breaking games, my group members and I bonded and started making friends with one another.

On the second day, we did more interesting stuff such as PT, and cyclic activities which were outdoor cooking, rock climbing and land expedition (which was done in place of water expedition due to bad weather). After completing the rock climbing, I learnt that we should not give up so easily and have resilience and teamwork. We cheered each other on so that everyone could will continue and not give up halfway.

During my group’s shower time, I went to the toilet without my buddy and one of the CI caught me and wanted me to shout "WHEREES MYY BUDDYY". My friend came just in time to rescue me. From this, we learnt that buddy system is very important.

Campfire was the time I really bonded with my group. We sang the campfire songs and performed together.

When it was time to leave on day 3, I felt sad.”

“From STC, I have learnt that we must learn to get along with others and work together in groups so that we can do things efficiently and get to know one another better. This way, we will be more social and it will benefit us. We must also be responsible for our own belongings and roles assigned to us. We must also take the initiative and volunteer. It is also necessary to help others even if they do not ask for help. We must have a sense of urgency and move quick so that we would not be late for the activities. We must manage also our time properly as not doing so will cause activities to snowball. Lastly, my goal is to take more initiative and try to help reduce the workload of others when I have done my own assignment or when they ask for help.”
