NDP 2017 @ AMKSS

It was the time of the year whereby we celebrate Singapore’s 52nd birthday. On 8 August, cadets from the various uniform groups from the AMKSS Combined Uniformed Group (CUG) put up an annual National Day Parade. AMKSS CUG has been working hard for the past month to prepare for the parade with trainings twice a week.

NPCC formed a supporting contingent for the parade with our Unit Cadet Leader, Goh Jia Min being the contingent commander.

Below is a recount from SGT (NPCC) Alastair Tan, one of the escorts from the Colours’ Party.

“On this particular year, it was a whole new experience for me. I was one of the escorts for the Colours’ Party, and I had to march in with the flag-bearers from the different UGs. From the first training, I had no idea and it was unlikely that I was going to be the escort, as I have never learnt any drills with the SAR-21 and had completely zero experience with it. When I was selected to be the escort of the Colours’ Party unexpectedly, I was surprised, though excited at the same time. I started putting in effort to learn the drills from seniors of NCC Air.

As the NDP approached, our trainings intensified and I started seeing everyone putting in more effort during the trainings. On the actual day, the parade was a successful one with minimal mistakes due to everyone’s hard work. I am proud that everyone have put up a good show for all.”
