On June 21, Our NPCC cadets participate in the NPCC Sentosa Outreach Programme. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness on keeping a look out on their own valuables by our cadets spreading messages to the public. The cadets are reminded not to leave their valuables unattended while they are having fun. During the process some of us did get rejected when we approached members of the public but we did not give up and continued spreading the message.
Other than doing our part in spreading crime prevention messages around Sentosa, we also got the chance to learn about the different types of poisonous fish. It's interesting to gain knowledge of the fish toxic and also the way to handle emergency situation like being stung by a poisonous fish. In addition, we also got the chance to learn the different type of flags to lookout for to swim in a beach safely. Just as much as everyone want to have fun on the beach, everyone should be responsible for their own safety and not only their valuables.
All in all, although Singapore has a relatively low crime rate, but low crime doesn't mean no crime, we should not take it for granted and should stay vigilant at all times. This is indeed an enriching experience for our cadets!
